5 reasons why people buy static caravans off site

Top 5 reasons why people buy used static caravans for sale off site

There are many reasons why you might be thinking about buying a static caravan for sale off site. Maybe you’re looking for an investment opportunity, or perhaps you’re in need of temporary accommodation. Whatever the reason, buying a used static caravan can provide a cost-effective solution for lots of accommodation needs.

1. Buying a static caravan to live in whilst you complete a building project or renovation

Whilst completing a building project or renovation most people look for inexpensive temporary accommodation close to their project site - buying a static caravan for sale off site could tick both of these boxes!

Used static caravans can cost less than £4,000 and as long as you don’t intend to live there permanently you are unlikely to need planning permission. Buying a static caravan to stay on site will also save on travelling costs, and you will be able to be more flexible when it comes to accepting deliveries out of hours. There’s also the added security of having someone around after the builders leave.

2. Buying a static caravan to rent as a holiday home

Perhaps you’ve decided to take advantage of the current ‘staycation’ boom! If you’re lucky enough to own land in a desirable location, buying a static caravan to rent for holidays could provide the perfect opportunity to generate some additional income.

Whilst it may be tempting to buy a cheap static caravan, the potential rental income for a new static caravan is likely to be much higher. Many of our customers choose to invest a little more in order to maximise the rental potential.

It’s also worth mentioning that if you choose to rent a static caravan from your land you will need planning permission. Depending on the size of your venture, you may also need to apply for a Caravan Site License.

3. Buying a static caravan to house seasonal workers

Certain industries (such as farming) rely on seasonal workers during busy periods. If you’re in need of temporary accommodation for your employees, buying a static caravan for sale off site could be a good investment for both of you!

Your employees will appreciate having their own space and you will have the peace of mind that they are close by should you need them.

You are permitted to have workers on agricultural land whilst they work for up to 28 days, as long as their work is relating to the land (during lambing season, for example).

4. Buying a static caravan to provide amenities for employees

Used static caravans can provide fantastic amenities for employees; providing shelter, kitchen and bathroom facilities and extra storage space, all under one roof.

You are permitted to site a static caravan in some instances under health and safety legislation. If, for example, it was providing essential amenities. We would always recommend that you check with your local council first.

5. Buying a static caravan as an alternative to extending your property

Extending a property can prove time consuming and disruptive, not to mention expensive! If you need extra space in a hurry, it may be worth considering buying a static caravan for sale off site.

New static caravans come fully equipped with all of the mod cons, including electrical appliances and white goods, and could make a perfect annexe, guest room or self-contained home office.

At Sedgemoor Caravans we offer a fantastic selection of used static caravans for sale off site. Whatever your reason for buying a static caravan we can help. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements in more detail.
